About the role:
We are seeking an Accountant to support the firm’s financial operations. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions, including trust accounting, payment processing, reconciliation, financial reporting, and coordination with attorneys and administrative staff.
The ideal candidate has experience working within a U.S. law firm environment, strong understanding of legal billing and trust accounting compliance, and meticulous attention to financial detail.
Experience in a personal injury firm is a strong plus.
U.S.-based legal or accounting experience is preferred.
What you’ll be doing:
- Manage daily accounting operations, including AP/AR, payment posting, and expense tracking.
- Perform trust accounting tasks, ensuring compliance with state bar regulations and ethical standards.
- Reconcile client trust accounts, operating accounts, and settlement distributions.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
- Support attorneys and case teams with financial documentation related to settlements, costs, and expenses.
- Verify and process vendor invoices, medical billing payments, and case-related expenses.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records within the firm’s accounting or case management system.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial audits, and year-end reporting.
- Communicate with internal teams, vendors, and clients regarding financial matters as needed.
Who are we looking for?
- 2+ years of experience in accounting, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Strong understanding of legal billing, trust accounting, and financial compliance requirements.
- High accuracy in bookkeeping, reconciliation, and financial documentation.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Clio, MyCase, or similar).
- Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple financial workflows simultaneously.
- Experience with U.S. accounting practices or personal injury law firms is preferred.
- English fluency (spoken and written); Spanish is a plus.
